In this weekly program led by certified dance program leaders, members of all ages, physicality, and gender are invited to engage in a form of artistic physical expression that pairs whole body movements with music. Designed to promote physical, mental and emotional stimulation, this science-based rhythmic dance program guides participants to a safe space of flow, challenge and connectedness. It is important to note that previous dance experience is not necessary; this class can be modified for anyone of any level or experience.
What to Expect at a Session
Within this welcoming and encouraging environment, sessions begin with seated exercises to warm up the whole body, then progress to standing movement practices that can be done freely or with the support of a chair. With a reminder to members to stay relaxed and attuned to their bodies, the program leader guides the group through a series of simple, easy to follow movements, that slowly build into more complex patterns that challenge the brain and body in gentle ways. Sessions are offered weekly for 60 minutes with extra time available at the end for those who enjoy conversing. Some classes may vary slightly according to the style of the program leader.
