Benefits and Impact
Yoga has been widely suggested to have a potential role in the health of people living with cancer; many studies report that yoga can improve health-related outcomes such as quality of life, fatigue, cognition, stress, and sleep quality in cancer survivors (Danhauer et al., 2019; O’Neill et al., 2020; Zetzl et al., 2021). One study on the effects of a breathwork-focused yoga program also observed improvements in fatigue, stress, and quality of life (Dhruva et al., 2012).
What to Expect at a Session
During this hour-long this program, members enjoy a rejuvenating and relaxing slow-paced movement practice, with the support of a chair. There is no pressure to perform in any way, just gentle guidance and the tools to cultivate awareness and presence, and enhance the body’s strength, balance, mobility, and flexibility through a variety of gentle postures. Members have described their experience as feeling like they have taken a trip to the spa.
